After trading for 37 years under the name of 'The Nursery', 'børnehaven' was introduced in 2021 as the online presence of our bricks and mortar shop based in North Yorkshire. With a passion for all things scandi and to meet the demands of the modern online world børnehaven, a translation of The Nursery in Danish, is a place to shop all things for the precious little people in your life.

Our collection of children's toys have been carefully selected and curated over our many years in business, with a specialism in wooden toys for children. Our passion for wooden toys stems from memories of fantastical traditional toy shops with all sorts of wonders to play with. In more recent years, we've aimed to opt for wooden toys over plastic as we believe they are not only better for the environment but wooden toys have been proven to have increased engagement in young children. Wooden toys enhance problem solving, spatial awareness and numerical and literary skills in the early stages of development for your little one.
